Ivacic, Rose B. (25 JUN 1912 - 11 OCT 2010)

 

SPENCER — Rose B. Ivacic, 98, of Spencer, entered eternal life on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Colby Retirement Community, surrounded by her family.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Christ the King Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery, with Rose’s grandsons serving as pallbearers.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer, where the rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Visitation also will be held one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Ivacic was born June 25, 1912, in Rib Lake, a daughter of Joseph and Clara (Thums) Wudi. She attended Rib Lake schools. Rose did domestic work in Milwaukee and Rib Lake prior to her marriage.

 

The former Rose Wudi was united in marriage to Paul C. Ivacic on Aug. 24, 1940, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Rib Lake.

 

The couple farmed in the Greenwood township near Rib Lake until 1952 then in the township of Sherman, near Spencer, "where there were less rocks" until 1973 and remained on the home farm until 1988.

 

Rose cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Other interests included fishing, reading, sewing, knitting, embroidery and card playing.

 

She is lovingly survived by her children, Jerry (Jan) Ivacic of South Bend, Ind., Don Ivacic of Rockford, Ill., Ron (Deb) Ivacic of Spencer, Jim (Lynn) Ivacic of Loyal, Judy (John) Carlson of Arpin and Petie (Jerry) Marten of Unity; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Rose is further survived by two sisters, Agnes Wudi of Milwaukee and Gert Bruss of Spencer.

 

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a granddaughter, Daniel Rose; a son-in-law, Leon Dommer; brothers, Carl, Joe, Len, Leo and Henry; and sisters, Kate and Clara.
